This creamy, vegan matcha latte with fluffy, whipped coconut cream is a dessert in itself. Refreshing and healthy, it will keep you energized for a long day!

Matcha is a super concentrated form of green tea that is ground into powder from the actual tea leaves. It has 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea, since you are consuming the whole leaf and not just the brewed water of the tea. The caffeine in the tea is slowly and continuously absorbed by the body over 6 hours to give you sustained energy and increased focus without giving you a caffeine crash later in the day.

Now, that’s the reason why I’m so hooked up with matcha. Make it into a latte and the result is a delicious and supercharged beverage that is full of health benefits (see list here).

I like to start my morning with this vegan matcha latte, which helps me feel more focused and gives me energy to last through the day. The whipped coconut cream makes this a super indulgent drink and goes perfectly with the beautiful taste of matcha. The vibrant green tea color and creamy sweet flavor are a welcoming change from the mundane, brown coffee.

This recipe uses whipped coconut cream which you can make from my simple recipe.

When it comes to matcha, I prefer Ryu Mei Organic Japanese Matcha green tea powder because it dissolves very well even in cold water, tastes nice and is inexpensive compared to other matcha powder. You can get it conveniently from amazon.com.

Vegan Matcha Latte with Coconut Cream

Ingredients
  

  • 1 & ½ teaspoon of matcha green tea powder Ryu Mei
  • 1-2 teaspoon of agave syrup depending on desired sweetness
  • ¼ cup of warm water
  • ¾ cup of soy milk Soy Dream Soymilk vanilla flavor
  • Whipped coconut cream

Instructions
 

  • Add matcha green tea powder and water into cup and stir until powder has fully dissolved.
  • Add agave and stir to mix.
  • Add ¾ cup of chilled soy milk and stir to mix.
  • Add two tablespoons of whipped coconut cream and serve immediately.
